A Good Experience with the CHP
So yesterday around 130 I was cruising down mission road in Santa Cruz, which is basically highway 1. The speed limit is 25 but traffic usually moves a little faster. So me and my roommate were kinda in a rush to surf so I was cruising at about 50. All of a sudden my radar goes off with a ka band warning. I look in my rear view and sure enough there's a chp bike pulling out of a parking lot behind me. At this point I'm positive I'm about to get pulled over. We stop at a light and the bike pulls right up next to me and the officer and I exchange glances and then he instructs me to pull over. So I pull over, roll all the windows down, take my keys out of the ignition and place them on the dash, and put my hands on top of the steering wheel. He asks me to step out of my vehicle and he asks my for all my current documents. The officer sees the surfboards laying accross the front passenger seat and tells me that he surfs too and that he liked the looks and sound of my ride. He shows me the gun and he clocked my going 51 in a 25. I told him that I did not realize that I was going so fast and he tells me that he is going to let me off with a warning for the speed and he just cited my for illegal front tint. I was so suprised that he let me off going double the speed limit. I guess there really are some good cops out there

I've had quite a few good experiences with LEOs (sheriff, CHP, and local cops). The day after Christmas I was on my way to Tahoe, just East of Auburn and got nailed at 90+. The sheriff let me off with a warning as I was signaling all lane changes and returning to the number two lane after passing any vehicles. I think it also may have had something to do with a pregnant wife sitting shotgun and the fact that it was the day after Christmas.
The other times I've received citations, I totally deserved them, but treated the officer with respect and usually got it knocked down a few MPH or let off of additional infractions.
Treat LEOs with respect and you will usually get the same in return. Remember, one bad apple spoils the bunch.

One time on 101S around redwood city, I drove a little "fast" on the on-ramp (that became part of larger on-ramp), I see some pretty bright headlights behind me, and it accelerates to me but not before I cleanly merge in front. I think "Great, another SUV ******* who was upset that I merged in front him". Well, SUV and I merge onto 101, doing about 75MPH in the 2nd lane. The SUV is blocked by me and some slow car in the fast lane, and angry enough to really ride my bumper. I "calmly" get to 85 and move over to make room. He accelerates behind me again and this time Red&Blue lights go up.
Great... CHP Truck.
SUV CHP: *Checks License/Registration*, You came a little hot onto the freeway.
Me: Honestly, I thought you were one of those SUV *******s trying to race me and I really didn't want to have anything to do with it.
SUV CHP: *Laugh* Ya I suppose so. Here is a warning (for address change on my license). Take it easy on those on-ramps, you could scare somebody.
So ya, you'll get nice officers too.

I am hoping that by "good cop" the OP meant "nice guy" as in all truth a technically "good cop" would have ticketed him and sent him on his way. A truthfully "good cop" would evaluate his actions, see if he is dangerous and proceed but that is a whole 'nuther discussion.
