Getting a WRX in 05, but one question
Changed my mind from getting an RS to WRX after test driving a WRX today (mmmmmm), but one single thing concerns me. I'm in Sacramento, CA and I'm wondering if you guys get a ton of punk *** street racer kids trying to race you on the streets. Mind you, I DO NOT want to race on the streets, but I also don't want to deal with some punk giving me ****, because I won't race.
I heard a horror story of a ricer civic pulling up next to a celica GTS trying to race. Light goes green, the civic takes off, while the celica driver is NOT racing. Later down the road, the civic goes through a red light and hits a car. The celica driver stays until ambulance and police arrive, but the celica driver gets a ticket for racing. I do NOT want/need that to happen to me in a WRX.
So, any of you Sacramentian's or anyone else get those ricer punks often, or do people pretty much avoid trying to race a WRX?

Its not as bad i you think. I am in the bayarea and i hardly get to many people coming up to race me. Most civics are afraid of wrx's. But if it does happen and there is an accident just dont stop ( your not at fault and not a part of the accident) just keep driving a long.

I don't get that too often (I'm in Sacramento also).
I live in North Sac, work out in Rancho.
I get the occasional jack *** in an M3 or lower model 3 series who wants to be cool. I get revved on by Civics occasionally, and I just look at them and laugh.
The one thing that does get sort of annoying, but is cool and you can't blame the other person for it, is all the questions about the car. "Hey, is that your car?" "is it fast?" "how do you like it?" or any variation.
It's not bad though. And who cares if some *** hat gives you **** for not racing? Just laugh and look away.

Does it really matter? No matter what car you drive (believe me) someone will always want to race. My Dad has people rev on him from time to time and he drives a Jeep. If you don't want to race simply ignore the person enticing you to do so. You shouldn't let something so trivial affect your decision on what car to purchase.

I've never ever had somebody try to race me. I never even have anybody look at my car. I think people hate Subarus where I'm at or something. Even most of my friends don't like my car. I don't care, but maybe that's good. Won't draw attention. Attention can be very bad.

The thing that happens to me most often is someone in their civic, rsx, celica, etc... and I are at a stoplight. Light goes green, and normal take off. Suddenly around 10mph, they gun it. o..k...
And there's no warning and I have not done anything to "bring it on" Not that I would have raced anyway.
