I also have a non i-clubber friend w/ a WRX he said I can learn on, I dunno about paid lessons tho.. it really doesn't seem hard w/ a MT, I just need more practice.

like some of the folks here. I got the car without knowing how to drive a stick. By the following week, I was driving up the hill in SF without using ebrake. You'll be fine. Good luck!

Cool.. I'm hoping it will be pretty easy for me, which I think it will be. So Mike, what's this 'crappy' WRX that you have? Is it at the shop? What if I came by on Saturday to try it out?

w00t for myself... Last night my friend let me drive his WRX around for about half an hour. I stalled once in the very beginning but after that it was pretty easy, smooth shifting after that. Didn't take it on the freeway, but just cruised around the local business park for a while. I'm glad to say I feel alot more comfortable driving a MT than I did in the past... can't wait till I get my next Subie!

once you learn how to drive stick, its like riding a bicycle, you NEVER forget, unless maybe you're in a right hand car or something i taught more than 5 people how to drive stick using my RS, luckily, all of them had prior experience, so its just mastering that first gear and learning how to sense the timing of it. i went down to milpitas to teach an old friend (she was my senior prom date) and she was able to "shock" her b/f that she was able to do burnouts when she asked him to teach her how to drive the MT. i came back to stockton like around 9ish, got together with some guys, and joked over how it took me 5 hours to teach the girl how to drive MY stick

Man, after driving manual for a year now, I dunno how I'd live without it. Except in heavy traffic and steep hills. Ugh.....
