If I were at my place in SF, I'd help out. Unfortunately I'm in Tahoe.

Has this actually happened to anyone with normal daily driving or is this just one of those urban myths?

We always replace tires that are uneven with new shocks because they can supposidly cause your new shocks to go bad but I've had customers use the same tires and eventually they even out and their shocks remain undamaged.

torque-bind from a shot center differential is NO MYTH.

My brother's Forester had it, it is not a myth. It's annoying, and tight turns would become a chore.

Please, just go by the rule and make sure all 4 tires are withing 1/4 inch in circumference of each other. It's not worth risking the drivetrain damage.

On an AWD Subaru, it's best to replace the tires in sets of 4 equal tires.

Yes. I've replaced more than one person's diff because of it.

In case you don't know always have your Subaru towed with a flat bed as well due to being awd. If its towed the other way will also destroy your diff.

Yup, I ended up replacing all 4 over the weekend. Got me some Potenza RE760's. They ride nice, reduced a bit of road noise and grip nicely.

Nice, Anthony! I used to have the RE750's, and they were miraculous in wet conditions (running the RE960's currently).

Yea, I agree on the treadwear rating though. But good thing is I have stupid firestone warranty. I also have the lifetime alignment with them. Done it 3 times already! YEA, FREE ALIGNMENTS FTW!
