fixing fix ticket with silencer?

can I get away with slapping on the silencer for exhaust fix it ticket?

update:
i did get away with just putting on a silencer.
i just it just needs to be worded correctly.

i just said that the car was bought with a modified exhaust.
i said i was told the ticket was for loud exhaust and that officer told me i can just put in a silencer.
so i told her i had to reach the previous owner to acquire the silencer.

she came out, heard the car and signed it off.

well if they sited u for the Cat back exhaust level of noise, yes, but if they site u for being catless or afftermarket piping, u will have to go back to stock..

dp's are easy man! and most of the time aftermarket cat-back's won't match up to the stock dp, different type of gasket. the stock gasket is a donut type while most aftermaket are the flange type.

my STI catback fit on my aftermarket downpipe as long as you put the stocker back on you can leave the downpipe. Cops wont look under to sign offthe ticket they just dont like to see the watermelon launcher sticking out the back.
