It depends on what class you want to run in and the car you have.
So, depending on the car
(GC8/GDA)
GS/DS (D-Stock) car must remain basiclly stock.
DSP/ESP (STreet prepared) You can run with out CATS but you will be running against mustangs and camaros that are very well prepped. In this class, you can tweak the exhaust, headers, intercooler, but you cannot change the boost controller or BOV.
(STS/STX) Street touring Basically the same as street prepared, but with the added restrictions that you can't change the intercooler along with the boost control or BOV.
SM Street mod. just about anything goes. You need a big budget to spend... I mean race here.
Read the rules on this site. this will give you a good idea of what you can do. When reading the rules, interpret them like this. If the rules don't say you can, then it's probably illegal for that class.

If you have questions feel free to post away!
Come on down to candlestick park saturday, the SCCA will be holding an autox there. Most of the will be running in the morning... j/k

ESP (or any street prepared class, for that matter) allows deletion of all emissions control devices.
STX requires to pass a tailpipe test. If you tuned it right, you MIGHT be able to do this WITHOUT cats......but it isn't likely
No Autox that I know of (and I know of basically all of them in the Bay Area )coming up anytime remotely soon at Infineon.

Street Modified
Consult the rule book for details of the Street Modified rules. Street Modified inherits all allowances from Street Touring and Street Prepared. The following does not attempt to list all additional modifications that are legal in this class, it just lists a few popular mods that are common in Street Modified, but not allowed in Stock, Street Touring or Street Prepared:
Certain replaced body parts: e. g. carbon fiber hood, fenders.
Larger hood scoop, hood scoop splitter.
Removed rear seats.
Suspension control arms, lateral and trailing links.
Camber bolts.
Different/updated turbo.
Blow-off valve.
Intercooler water spray (?).
Any kind of boost control (MBC, EBC).
Any other changes to boost control, like the popular resistor mod.
Engine management systems that modify boost, e. g. Unichip with boost control unit, as sold by TurboXS and Cobb, or UTEC.
Standalone engine management.
Internal engine modifications.
Engine transplant with different Subaru engine.
Different/updated transmission.
Beyond Street Modified
Consult the rule book for Prepared and Modified categories. The following list is just a reminder of a few popular mods that are not allowed in Stock, Street Touring, Street Prepared or Street Modified, they will put you into Prepared/Modified classes where you will be competing with race cars:
Replaced body parts not allowed in SM: e. g. trunk lid, STi bumper beams (?).
Weight reduction not explicitly allowed in SM: e. g. gutted interiour, removed heater, wipers, lights.
Tires that are not DOT approved (racing slicks).
Anti-Lift Kit.
Not Allowed In Any Class
The following are not allowed in any class:
Nitrous (bottles not allowed on event sites for safety reasons).
Uncertain Mods
No clear rules are currently available for the following popular mods:
Ground wire mod.

So, has anyone tested the "Any Brake Rotors or Calipers" deal in STX?
If it's legal, I'd probably be looking at bigger brakes (i.e. Stoptech, or even just the Subaru 4-pots) next year. I'd like to go to a few track days, and quite honestly after I've gotten used to my (very NON-stock) Impala SS brakes the ones in the Subaru (even with upgraded pads/lines/fluid) feel pretty crappy in comparison.
Don't wanna knock myself out of STX for them though

Although it is against the rules, I'd be really surprised if anyone challenged you over it at a regular SFR event. I think that they are more concerned about removing large pieces of stock trim etc.

I was looking at the debadging, too. That would have moved me from ESP to SM, last month. Nobody out here has said anything, though, and I'll be in SM next month, anyway. Interesting.
