Both the regular UPS drivers I've had in my office area over the past 3 years are really cheerful dudes that always address me by my first name.
The FedEx guys that deliver in my new office don't seem so cheery, the one that handled our Berkeley office was a cool cat tho. Lucky for me the FedEx station is only a couple blocks from my office, made it easy when I had to send out about 50 boxes of crap totalling about 1000lbs in one week in January!

Then again there are those "volume shippers" that just love FedEx too and we have quite a few of those in our area, i.e. Genentech has been shipping their product (and I mean the drugs themselves) via FedEx for more than 10 years now. I've seen their discounts on their end of the day FedEx report and it's amazing what they get !
I should know, that's been the route I've been taking care of for 8 years.
If you need to get drug to a site, at the right temperature, at the right time, we always use FedEx, I can't tell you how many times they've saved our *** and kept clinical trials on schedule.

I work at Genentech and let me tell you, UPS is a dirty word here, we tried them out for a 6 month test and they failed badly. They offered stupid low prices but grasped every chance to screw up.

Seriously though, you get what you pay for. Even the guys at bldg. 9 HATE UPS.
