Feb. 17th Bracket Drags at Sears Point

A friend and I are planning on going up to Sears Point on Monday Feb. 17th for Presidents Day Bracket Drag Races. Gates open at 8am. Is there anyone else interested in going?

If you are planning on going, make sure to get there around 8:00-8:15 am. Last time I went to the bracket drags was on January 1st, and by 8:30am there was already more than 200 cars there.

Hope to see some of you up there.

Last bump before tomorrow? Anyone change their minds and want to go?

It won't be raining like I thought tomorrow. It is supposed to actually warm up to 55°.

See ya there.

So I got up at 6:15am and trekked the 100 miles it takes to get to the track hoping to add another quicker time than the last. Luckily everytime I have gone to the track, I have done better the first time.

Last time at the track, January 1st: http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/showth...threadid=16126 I ran a 13.888 @ 97.26. Since then I have added the OZ Superleggera rims, OBX straight through muffler, and took out the spare tire and jack this time. I also ran a 50/50 mixture of 91 and 100 octane.

So on my first run, I get up to the light. I think I have been playing that NittoRacing game too much. Because I revved up to 4500rpm's the light came down, I launched, and forgot to slip the clutch. I dropped it, and probably roasted the tires for a good 40 feet. This is the #'s of the first run. This run was also early and cold in the morning, as well as boosting at 16.0 psi.

60ft 2.156
330ft 5.937
1/8 9.096
MPH 78.13
1000 11.756
1/4 14.033
MPH 97.62

Second pass I mis-shifted second with a big grind and got the following:

60ft 1.986
330ft 6.126
1/8 9.451
MPH 75.30
1000 12.206
1/4 14.531
MPH 95.45

Third pass, I made sure to plant the clutch all the way through the floorboard so I wouldn't mis-shift again. Turned out it really worked. And my first ever 1.8sec 60' time. Boost was still set to 16psi:

60ft 1.866
330ft 5.679
1/8 8.821
MPH 78.45
1000 11.490
1/4 13.769
MPH 97.81

Last run of the day, for me anyways. I wrote a 13.65 dial in and turned up my set by 1 to 61, and my gain to by 1 to 16. Well I guess I was playing NittoRacing in my head on this run. Because I got a .299 light. Remember, a perfect light is a .500 . But I did run my best ever time:

60ft 1.874
330ft 5.613
1/8 8.742
MPH 78.88
1000 11.406
1/4 13.689
MPH 97.52

I didn't really mind going home then, since I redlighted. But I did get a pretty close # to my dial in.

All in all, it was very fun. Just gonna keep working on my 60' times to get better 1/4mile times.

Great times Karl, Looks like you'll be bringing your helmet all the time now. I see your 60' is @ 1.8, looks like you got it down now. See Ya Weds 3-5-03 when I break into the 12's .

Cool. Who were you with? I was probably speeding going the other way because I had to take a leak so bad. I also had a CHP eyeing me for a while because of the big white numbers all over my car. Next time I am bringing windex.

Thanks Russel. Yeah, I finally broke down and bought myself a helmet for Christmas. I also wish my first run of the day would have been better, since the weather was still mighty cold out. But I F-ed up and lit up the tires for a good 40 feet.

And yes, I will see you on the first Wednesday night drags. And you will go 12 seconds.
