Fastest way to Sonoma 6am-7am on weekday
Hi,
What's the fastest route to Sonoma from Santa Clara on a weekday (Tuesday) in the early morning (5:30am - 7am):
1. 101-> Van Ness -> Lombard St. -> GG Bridge -> 101
or
2. 101 -> 380 -> 280 ->19th Avenue -> Presidio -> GG Bridge -> 101
?
I'll be reaching SF around 6:20-6:30am and just wondering which route is faster?
Thank you!

Hmmm, ok, thanks! I'll think about that. 280 all the way is slower but more "bulletproof".
Update: just a few min difference according to googlemaps. I'll seriously think about that route. Thanks guys!

I live/lived in Napa for many years now. Your absolute best bet is 680, no question. Get over to 680 -> 780 -> 37.
Specifically I would suggest this route: http://tinyurl.com/2bvxf4a
Bypassing the 80/37 interchange can be advantageous to avoid and I showed you the way I would suggest because even at that time of the morning you're going to be encountering traffic. You will notice this comes out to exactly the same distance as going 880 overall. Surprise!
You could merge onto 80 and jump over to 37 if you wanted but it's a tossup between my route and staying on the freeway. Most of the time I've found 37 to be faster and you will too because you'll be going against the majority of the traffic trying to leave that area.
