$310?? thats just INSANE

I did oil change, replaced intake filter. Asked how much would it take to do the rest of the 30k @ Carlsen and they said $850!!!! What do you include in your 30k service Ed? Carlsen advertise 30,000 Mile Scheduled Maintenance Service | Part Replacement and Tune-Ups | San Francisco, CA 94063 that list as their 30k.. but somehow i doubt stealerships really do everything....

I'll drive a hundred miles just for your 30k service! I also have a possible wheel bearing problem... or it sounds like it, would the tech quickly check it out? but then... im still under warranty.. not sure what i should do? advise Ed?

Sorry, I quoted you without the coolant system flush. With the coolant flush with the Subaru Super Long Life Coolant (100k+ Miles), it comes out to $456.

It has now been 3 years since we first opened this shop! It's amazing how much the shop has changed and evolved over this time. We have doubled in size, we have built over 60 Subaru engines, and provided quality tuning, services, and products to countless customers. And let's not forget a little 4 month old addition to our family as well .

In this relatively short period of time we have matured greatly as a business and while we have made great advancements in terms of quality and efficiency, we are still constantly striving to improve ourselves, our practices, and our products. We have certainly run into our share of challenges and obstacles as is expected with any new business, but we always meet them head on and persevere through while learning how to improve for the future.

We also always remember that we owe our success to our wonderful, loyal, and ever growing customer base. My appreciation goes out to every single one of you! We hope that we can continue serving the community for many more years to come.

I had the pleasure of tuning a very clean and well put together RS-STI Swap earlier this week. This was a GC RS with complete 06 STI drivetrain including the 6MT, complete TBE, Fuel pump, Injectors, MBC, running E85. The customer drives the car very aggressively so he requested a relatively mild E85 tune. Here is what we ended up with at about 21psi peak tapering to 13.5psi by readline:



This car had previously been tuned elsewhere and the customer was very happy with the improved power, response, and drivability.

Power to weight on those RSTI's are killer.

Haven't been to the shop in a bit. I'm running out of things to do for my car lol.

Yea this thing hauled major ***

This was one of the cleanest swaps I've seen to date and the guy did it all himself. Very impressive.

Another quick update:

We have been getting so much business lately that I made the decision to bring in a third technician on staff. This will help us streamline the shop and help get projects done even faster.

We received a handful of applications and this week we started our new tech Thomas. Thomas has a lot of experience working at Subaru and GM dealerships and holds various Subaru Certifications. We have been training him on the way we do things here and he has already made himself a valued part of the team.

I'm trying to find an excuse to go to your shop again Ed.. Maybe upgrade my turbo, I need to call you and talk to you about that. So you can guide me into the right turbo for me..

There's no Paul here

As far as a shop track car... its not one of our priorities. We are here mainly to serve our customers and provide the best possible services, tuning and products. We are, however, in the process of co-building a car with a good friend/customer which will be a very fun track toy although not a necessarily a competitive "race car". We are still a fairly young business and don't have that kind of disposable income to throw around .

Just finished up another car and got it tuned on the dyno. This is a customer who drove about 3 hours to have us work on his 06 STI. He had a previous setup done at another shop out of state and was running a a smaller turbo on E85. He now wanted to switch back to pump gas but still keep some good power, so he decided to size up the turbo significantly.

He already had a built engine, so he decided to go a bit big. He chose the Forced Performance Red and left the rest to us. We installed the new turbo, an EQ Tuning FMIC kit with blow-through MAF, a Tial BOV, Perrin EL Headers, Tigwerks EWG UP with Tial 38mm EWG, TGV Deletes, Perrin Inlet, and an Aeromotive in-tank fuel pump. The final setup is:

Built Shortblock
FP Red Turbo
EQ Tuning FMIC Kit
Tial BOV
Perrin 3" Inlet
TGV Deletes
Perrin EL Headers
Tigwerks EWG UP with Tial 38mm EWG
PE850cc Injectors
Aeromotive Stealth Fuel Pump
Hallman MBC
Perrin CATTED TBE
EQ Tuning Custom Tune on 91 Octane Pump Gas


After about 4 hours on the dyno, this is where we ended up:



That's 360whp/329ft-lbs at 21psi peak boost on straight 91 Octane pump gas, revving out to 7400RPM. The power levels are awesome considering the car retains a catted downpipe and the heads have no work done to them. Even though this is a bit on the laggy side for a lot of people, revving out to 7400RPM still gives a nice usable powerband.
