Thought you guys might be interested in this... We had the pleasure to do a baseline on a 2011 STI yesterday. The car is bone stock, so we did a handful of pulls with the stock ROM, then loaded the Cobb Stage 1 ACN map and did a couple more pulls. The stock map is one of the worst I've seen to date!! Its all over the place and makes very little power. The Cobb map ran much better overall with a much smoother powerband. The customer is waiting to put on some parts to get a custom tune done.

Here are the graphs:

The first two pulls are bone stock, the last two are with the Cobb Stage 1 ACN map.

Thanks

Here is an 05 LGT Automatic that we tuned a few days ago. We ran the baseline pulls the way the car came in with an SPT intake and SPT catback on the stock ECU. Then we installed an Invidia catless downpipe and Hallman MBC and performed a custom tune using OECU.

Here are the before and after pulls:

Remember that this is an automatic transmission. Its pretty amazing how much torque is made the wheels with the torque converter!

WOW amazing difference on the '11 stock vs Cobb. I cannot believe they sell cars that are tuned like that :| When you get it tuned make sure you overlay the tuned map as well...even though I am sure it will have some parts added.

Definitely will. I was shocked at the stock curve. So much so that I thought something might be up with the dyno, but the pulls were very consistently bad! The a/f really tells the story... the stock map runs a/f in the 14's out to about 4500RPM then dips down into the 9's!

Ed, so you're saying that even 2008-2010s had a better stock map? Wow.

What was the peak boost on COBB ACN91 map? Is it LWG or NWG?

It was hitting about 15psi on the stock map and 17psi on the Cobb map. It was just the standard Stage 1 ACN 91 map.

Thanks

Crap, now I have to get a tune. Even my buttdynno can feel the crap stock map, but I had no idea it is that bad.

Nope... not quite. Its pretty standard for 08+ STI's to put down right around 200whp on my dyno. This, however, was one of the worst looking curves I've seen to date!

What I would like to figure out is why Subaru makes these crap tune's? How hard is it to tune the car right from the factory? Really would like to know what the people are smoking in the tuning part of the factory!

I agree, but we have to remember that they are also working with emissions constraints. AFAIK, the delayed open loop switchover is mandatory and that's a very big part of the problem. What I'd like to know is how they can rate these cars at 305whp when they're making about 15-20whp less than the "300hp" 04-07 STI's.
