This is a 2010 STI that came in yesterday for a custom tune. The car was bone stock running the Cobb OTS Stage 1 91 Octane map, so we decided to do a couple baseline pulls before proceeding. This is the black line on the chart. The Cobb Map was putting down 215whp/247ft-lbs. This is a bit lower than expected, but everything seemed to be running safely.
After the baseline pulls, we installed an AEM CAI and GrimmSpeed 3-port EBCS and proceeded with the custom tune. The customer wanted the tune to be very safe and didn't care much about the peak numbers. After the tune, we ended up with 239whp/261ft-lbs keeping things very conservative. I could have easily gotten another 4-5whp out of it, but that's not what the customer was after, so we stopped there. You can see in the graph that at 4k RPM, we have a healthy 30ft-lbs gained and above 6k RPM, we have a about a 25whp gain. These are very healthy gains for a relatively low reading dyno and conservative tune. The car is also much smoother and more responsive all around.
Here's the info and chart:
Event: Custom Dyno Tune
Location: Equilibrium Tuning - Fairfield, CA
Dyno: Dynocom DC-Tuner AWD Chassis Dyno
Ambient Temp: 65 Degrees Fahrenheit
Elevation: ~100ft above sea level
Car: 2010 Subaru WRX STI
Tuner: Ed @ Equilibrium Tuning
Peak HP at RPM: 239whp @ 5950RPM
Peak Torque at RPM: 261-lbs @ 4250RPM
Target Boost: 18psi Tapering to 15psi
Fuel: California 91 Octane
Stock HP for this dyno: 06 STI @ 215whp
Engine/Power Modifications:
AEM CAI Intake
GrimmSpeed EBCS
EQ Custom Tune using Cobb AP V2
Thanks

Great tune, ED! If customer wanted a safe tune why did he wanted to use a CAI? For turbo spool sound? From what you wrote before CAI opens up turbo a little bit on high end but that should be a bit more agressive compared to stock box anyway?
