I don't understand why some people are against road tuning (especially on a car forum). Real world dynamics are better than a road simulating dyno. Its not street racing and it doesn't happen in school zones, residential areas or with lots of other cars on the road (or at least it definitely shouldn't). Its done in the middle of nowhere on a flat, straight road. If another car comes by, simply use the brakes to slow down. And if the concept of speeding down a quiet, straight, flat road intimidates you - you really shouldn't be driving a sports car and I would question if you have the skills to possess a drivers license (not being an *** here, just honest).
And to address the "speeding is breaking the law" argument - Yes it is illegal to speed. If you don't like to break the law don't mod your car, don't drive 80mph on the freeway, dont jaywalk, etc. If you break the rules be prepared for the consequences whether it be a ticket, car impounded, jail, or death. I'm by no means a rebel but I like to have fun and some laws will always be broken. Yes, the track is the ultimate place to speed and drive your modified car but not everyone has the disposable income or time to hit the track whenever they have the urge to put the pedal to the metal.

He does actually. He posted a thread a while back of his own wrecked STi - hes a good sport and owns up to his mistakes (crashing in the twisties at 30mph).

Now imagine what could have happened had I been drag racing and/or looking at my laptop.
My good friend, who happens to be a CHP officer and a damn good driver, drives a lot out in the farm areas that are popular with some of those that road tune.
I can't tell you how many stories he's relayed to me about dip****s hitting cows, pigs, dogs, couches, on these "empty farm roads."

These threads are pretty funny to be honest, not sure why people seem to think they have to jump in time and time again and beat this horse as it's already dead - you don't like road tuning then don't have your car road tuned it's as simple as that.
Playing devils advocate on the whole thing regarding safety I would have to say that every single one of us if driving on said road tuning road wherever it may be would probably be driving down the road/lane and be flat out as after all for the most part we're all car nuts and like to have fast cars and drive them fast I know for a fact that when presented with open road I have a tendancy to flog the crap out of whatever I am driving but perhaps I am the only one??.
I didn't understand the reference to nitrogen above? We use nothing but that in our race car and have only managed to float once but that was induced by nailing a berm on track at over 100mph and I don't think lead filled tires would have prevented that situation. I would take nitrogen over regular air any day in my tires I just don't have reason to do so in anything I currently street drive.

There really isnt anywhere around Fairfield to do this. If you want to do it...go out near the outskirts of woodland/davis/dixon where there's absolutely no one and if you crash and die it will only be yourself and not innocent folks. I know road tuning can be a little more "real time" but sometimes its not worth it unless you're in a controlled enviroment. Go find a dyno.
