Early Snow: 2010 Snowboard/Ski Thread

Just heard on the news this morning that Tahoe is getting its first snow already! The wife and I booked a 3 night weekend in North Shore for late Nov. so Ski'ing and Snowboarding will be happening.

Where/what do you guys typically go/do? What gear do you have?

Me and the gf are renting a place on the ski trail at northstar for the winter. Pretty sweet place. Drove up to check it out last weekend.

been checking webcams the last few days. a lot of the resorts are getting a light dusting so far at the top. Can't wait for this season to start!

Usually, my buddies and I hit up sierra/northstar, squaw, kirkwood, and boreal once in a while to hit up the park

As far as gear, this season:
09 Burton V-Rocker
Burton Mission Bindings
Burton Hail boots

It's normal to get snow this time a year at the top of the mountains, but the good stuff starts to fall after thanksgiving

On that note, I would say you'll probably have horrible conditions late Nov. The snow that fell was over 8000 ft. 3 years ago we got snow in late Sept, early Oct. Then didn't get anything until late Nov when it finally started. But I guess if you want your fix, you'll ride in anything you can.

yo from truckee!

it has been POURING rain the last few days. like OMG i cant believe how hard it rained type rain. Rose has a few inches of snow, and it got to 32 last night. as long as this keeps up, the ground will be frozen by late Oct, and let the games begin.

my joints this summer have been VERY sore. the last time thiey were this sore, we got 1996-97 style winter. HUGE EPIC snow fall that went until June. I think i skied 100 days that year.....@ Squaw!

anyway, it is cold and feeling like LATE fall up here.

yay for winter

josh

PS i even sweapped out my summer/winter wheel set up. icy in the morns.....

Well if theres no good snow in late Nov, we're staying at Harvey's and planned on gambling when not in the snow.

Theres double whammy group packages that save you $100 but theyre ending soon, like end of this month. Other than that, not sure of other discounted season passes.

For lift tickets, check out Any Mountain and Sports Basement. You can buy discounted tickets there without paying to join like REI. Check craigslist too. Also, the Ski Festival is coming up. Each paid admission gets you (1) lift ticket to Bear Valley, Dodge Ridge, and China Point so (3) tickets total. And, Zumiez had this Transworld Snowboarding packages for $20 that got you a year subscription to Transworld Snowboarding, t-shirt, Monster Energy coupon, music downloads and a 2for1 coupon for Northstar/Sierra.
