driving up a VERY steep hill

damn! that must be one steep hill! I used to live in SF and still go there from time to time. I've been on some VERY steep hills in SF never die out while going up... But then again I drive a 25.RS with 10:1 CR (better low end torque?).

I don't know if it's still the case, but older cars (like in the Packard era) have a lower reverse gear than first, and a lot of them couldn't make it up in first so they'd have to back up the hill
I've had trouble starting up a hill before, but once it's going it'll usually make it up without a problem. I use a variation of e-brake method by heel-toeing the start, figure it distributes the braking a bit more evenly...
