Kai Tak was super convenient though, off the plane and you're smack dab in the middle of Kowloon. Lantau is still too long of an MTR ride into town for me
landing in Kai Tak was damn scary. on final approach you can basically see the people in their apartments watching you in the plane. it sure felt like landing smack dab in the middle of Kowloon.

if you think that's crazy check out St. Martin/Maarten Airport.
I wanna just stand there while the engines kick in and see if I could keep standing. haha

that's why in the US... just check out SFO, SJX and OAK, have "blast" deflectors at the end of the runway...

HAHA we were there and tried to hang on to that fence!!! We were basicly flailing in the wind and holding on to that fence cause they have to sit there and spool the engines up for a sec to clear the mountain at the other end of the runway. The funniest part was when the copilot laughed at us as they taxied onto the runway. We took a pretty good picture of us on the sign "Warning jet blast will cause injury" Good times, I had gravel stuck in my chest for days.

heres another hairy one. Worlds shortest international runway, and its usally crosswind

Toncontin Airport, Honduras. Having negotiated the rough-hewn mountainous terrain, pilots must execute a dramatic 45-degree, last-minute bank to the left just minutes prior to touching down in a bowl-shaped valley on a runway just 1862 metres in length.
