Kai Tak Airport was notorious for these crazy landings. They finally closed it in 1998 and move the international airport farther north to somewhere with more space.

Those were the good ol' days
Hanging out in Kowloon Tong and suddenly seeing a 747 fly overhead so close that you could practically see the passengers in their seats hehe.
Kai Tak was super convenient though, off the plane and you're smack dab in the middle of Kowloon. Lantau is still too long of an MTR ride into town for me
