well there are ways to unbrick an ecu but its too complicated for myself to try and do. it requires soldering and working with the board, most of which is way past my head. cobb basically unbricks your ecu for 100$ i think. i ended up buying a used ecu and getting it shipped to my door the very next day from LKQ for $125.

You can have tactrix work on it for I think $75 ask LGT Mark.

Mine bricked during a tune at a shop so.... It happens anywhere.

I heard tatrix doesn't do it anymore...
how exactly do you brick it anyways? What can you mess up to make that happen?

uhm i wouldnt work with your ecu by yourself to be honest....

it can brick from loss of voltage as mentioned by turning your key off, spike in voltage, computer crashing, anything that could cause static or electro disruptions.

Trying to tune it with a home computer for starters

You can brick all kinds of stuff by trying to reprogram/root/modify/etc them. Sometime it just happens. That's why you shouldn't try and learn on your only car

Don't forget to get yourself a wideband, makes tuning a much easier ordeal.

I meant as in, if you were tuning on 1 ECU, what car are you going to put it in to test that tune because having a map doesn't yield results until tested on a car. Sorry was a bit ambiguous on the last post probably.

Couldn't I have a stock ECU thats not connected to anything just in case I brick my current one? Once I do brick my current one, just swap them out?
