does anyone know how to change a water pump?

I think the water pump is broken cuz it overheats and needs to be filled with water every 15-20 minutes.

Btw this is for my parents car, not mine.

Thanks BAIC!

umm most of the time you can't just reach in and feel if the water pump is loose as you have to remove timing belt covers. and if that belt is loose your timing for the cams will might be effected too.

best first question is correct from hubert

well is it leaking, is there white smoke coming out anywhere (esp from the exhaust or engine bay), is there a sweet sweet smell outside of the car after you drive it? is there a puddle on the ground? if theres no leak, is the water still in there? how do the radiator hoses look? normal or collapsed? hows the radiator cap?

That right there is the best question to ask first. Critical bit of information that was left out of the original post.

some cars have the water pump on the serpentine belt, not on the timing belt

Thermostat is also an option. My sister's Legacy GT was doing the same thing and that was her problem.
