Dude, I think that's illegal, you should call EDD on them and file a class action lawsuit.
It's not illegal because of our contracts and some loophole that says our jobs are not creative or somthing - anyway, EA does have a class action lawsuit against them finally, but its going to take a long time before that spreads out into the smaller companies.

That sucks, you should jump on that. They made you sign a contract prior to employment?

all jobs where you are on salary are like that. you always work more than standard 40 hours a week and don't get compensated. welcome to the real world

No, not all jobs. What is happening to the people in the game industry is abuse, not the real world.

I used to have those with my old job as well. I was so stressed that I started taking work home with me at night so i could get it done. I started a new job about 3 weeks ago doing basic customer service for a guitar parts supplier and i love it! I don't really have any advice for you except to keep your eyes open for something new. Good Luck!

so far im enjoying my new job as a loan officer. i don't telemarket so its not one of thoes jobs that you call people while they are home eating to talk about their mortgage. the work week is long, some times 60+ but the compensation is really good. i have nothing to complain about.

Thx, I work my *** off, and pride myself on my hard work, but it seems like I'm the only one who cares.

weird but true, i really dig my job. I sell one of microsoft's software apps......it's really an enjoyable place to be, and thankfully I have a killer group of people to work with.

oh, and if anyone is looking for a sales job, hit me up, we're hiring aggressively.

not just gaming has rough hours.. consulting/banking has vicious hours as well logging well over 100 hour work weeks and only getting the standard 40 hour pay. but no one does anything about it because you enter the industry expecting to work those hours...

on that note, my job's ok. i don't like it because it has long hours and i never have time to do anything else (and i can't surf i-club while there ) but, otherwise, i'm learning a lot so... yeah...

i'm in ibanking with equity research

I work in a law firm in the consumer bankruptcy dept. I'm a secretary/paralegal. it's an ok job. It's laid back, got a great boss, 35 hour work week, close to everything (except music store and electronic store, shoe store, well.. ok, maybe it's not close to everything haha) (Embarcadero Center) and I get to spend most of my day here in I-club. man,.. come to think of it, my job is depressing!
