Do you Work on Your Car or Have it Worked On???

Hey guys, I'm just curious as to what percent of us work on our own cars vs. what percent of us have our cars worked on by shops.

^me too, I've just be seeing TONS of threads on other forums, mainly nasioc where people pay shops to do EVERYTHING and I'm thinking, "you can get twice to three times as many parts if you do the work yourself, it's only a car" but then again I understand that people might not have time or are scared of braking things.

true ^ i went to an auto tech school and was a tech for a bit so i guess that helps alot. plus i still work at a dealership. lol...

basically if you can take something apart and put it back to gether them same way which is KEY! lol... then you can do mods. be patient

Only things I can not do are alignments & tires. Also I do send out the head to be double checked if the head gasket blows. Other then that kind of stuff I just do it myself with the MR2.

I try to do as much as I can myself or with some help from friends. Not that I don't appreciate the shops, but half the fun is actually installing it yourself. Half the misery is also from installing it yourself.

i do all the work myself or have friends help me out (ffbn crew ftw!), and i also try to help them as much as i can to return the favor, so we all learn more, save money and have a good time while we're at it!
