Do you believe, everything happens for a reason?
#16
I do believe that things are meant to happen they way they are supposed to..... I put that in retrospect of the every day events I encounter........... But you cant get carried away thinking like that. "Meant to be" and "happening for a reason" can only suit so many situations, thats why I dont push it. If it feels like its mean to happen for a reason, then I let it be. If its something too small, then I just keep telling myself Im getting too carried away thinking like that.

I'm a pretty major atheist... The universe is based on chaos and convenience of actions.
From Werner Herzog in his documentary "Grizzly Man". The film is about Tim Treadwell, a (insane) researcher who lived with bears in Alaska for several seasons before being killed by one.

...He seemed to ignore the fact that in nature there are predators.
I believe the common denominator of the universe is not harmony, but chaos, hostility and murder.
...
And what haunts me, is that in all the faces of all the bears that Treadwell ever filmed, I discover no kinship, no understanding, no mercy. I see only the overwhelming indifference of nature.
To me, there is no such thing as a secret world of the bears,
And this blank stare speaks only of a half-bored interest in food.

I believe in karma, and i dont necessarily believe EVERYTHING happens for a reason, thats not what i meant. The example about the coffee cup is perfect, sure that maybe didnt mean anything.
As far as stalling my car, no i dont believe at the time i can remember ever stalling it. I can probably count on one hand how many times i have stalled my car. But regardless, something interfered at that point in my life.
I also dont believe we dont have choices. I dont think anything is predetermined. I do believe that some actions are provided from something to help us or save us when it needs to happen.
If you wanna get deeper than that, think about this. What if we all had 1 purpose in our life. And the only purpose of our lives was to do one action. Some of us were meant to be presidents, sure, but what if your purpose was to mention one fact to someone just in passing, and have them take that and study it, develop it or whatever. But more than that, you work with someone at a job, you teach them something, they quit six months later but take that skill you taught them to do something, that gives someone else an idea how to change something, and that keeps spreading.
I am not trying to debate anything, just throwing thoughts out there.
I think alot of people out there, think crazy thoughts when they have time to think to themselves. But because some of the things they think so so crazy, they are afraid to mention it to anyone because they are afraid to be outcasted, when it actuallity most everyone thinks the same thing, but they are afraid to say it out loud for the same reason.
but everything i say is just to try to get peoples gears a turnin, not to change anyones thoughts.

There are some situations in life where you can't avoid what will happen. Like a layoff, etc. But you can control 99% of how you feel/act during these instances. You can dumb down and be a pessimist, or you can think there was a purpose and look on the brighter side.
It's a coping mechanism.
I do believe in choice, and the reason why this world is in chaos is because of greedy people making choices for themselves instead of lending a hand.

Q for everyone:
Why you believe what you believe? How do you know that what you believe is true?
Truth isn't truth because you think it is true. Truth is true because it is true. Which makes it important to find truth

^ haha i agree.
may seem so at this point but maybe you will learn things from these experiences that you couldn't have in any other way?
possibly those lessons will help you become a better person, help someone in a similar situation, etc?
