Didja get the memo? About the TPS Report?
This thread is for venting steam about the processes at work. If you've ever watched "Office Space", you'll know what I mean.
I want to complain about the daily and weekly status reports I have to submit to my lead at work. Every day and every week, I have to submit reports about what I've accomplished, what problems I've encountered, and what my plans are for the next day/week.
I think this is excessive. We already have a custom application that tracks metrics. On top of this we have to submit these reports. And then the leads collate this information for their reports. And then the managers collate this info for their reports. And then the directors collate this info for their reports. See a pattern?
Today, in the last 15 minutes before I left for the day, my lead asked me to submit my daily status report. Twice. This is something I do every day before I leave, and somehow she feels the need to remind me.
We hardly ever get praised for exceeding our daily or weekly goals. Yet, if we miss just one goal, my lead is all over my case.
Argh!!!

I was promoted to assistant chief engineer for SJSU Central Plant in April. I sit here and wonder what the hell did I get myself into??? Every one of my guys has been allowed to sit and pretty much do as they choose for quite a while. The other day I found a make shift antenna on the roof that one of the night shift operators built so he could get more channels on the TV. Yesterday while picking up everyones messes, I grabbed a pile of rags, one of which had another rag inside of it. It fell to pieces in front of me. I said oh s***. To make a long story short the rag was covered in sulfuric acid and I burned my finger. If I find that bastard we are gong to have some words. These punks are in for a wake up call.
