Here's an updated news story:
Turns out the woman driving the suv was following her husband who was in the other vehicle. She was behind her husband some distance, as he took the Ocean Avenue exit. At the last minute, she sees the exit from the far left lane, so she swerved all the way to the right to take that exit. She hits the edge or the guard rail or something which sent the suv out of control, toppling over several times. NOBODY had their seatbelts on, which sent the kids flying out of the car, killing several of them, including the driver (wife), who also didn't wear her seatbelt.
It turns out there was no racing. Moral of the story, don't drive stupidly and wear your seatbelts.

no. The followup story was that the wife was following him. He took the exit, wife crashes, he sees it, backs up the car, and tries to help out.

Why jeopardize the people in the SUV, let alone... the SUV from a wreck by forcing to swerve and cut lanes from the left lane to the exit on the far right? Also, no sealtbelts?! COME ON PEOPLE! You hear it over and over again, what's the matter with you!? BUCKLE UP!
I have the utmost respect for the dead. However I'm sorry to say, but that was a horrible reaction by the wife's part... I few sorry for the children who had no control over it and for the husband because he's still living and has to cope with this loss. RIP... really sad to hear.

Well, something else doesn't make sense about that story now.
If the woman was following her husband...why was she still in the left lane? Unless...the husband swerved to the exit first (which would explain why people said they were racing).
If the husband really swerved to the exit, I feel even worse for him, because it was part his fault too. If I had someone following me and I missed an exit that bad...I would've just taken the next one, and pulled over to say I missed the exit.

Well, given that the police had reports of those two cars driving reckelessly before the accident even occured (according to the article), someone needs to go back in time, hit that woman with some adrenaline to the heart to wake her up, smack her, and then let her die again. Jesus.
