Dentist in the south bay

So I find myself looking for a new dentist.

My parents see a guy in Foster City which is just too far for me. Maybe you guys have some good dentists that you recommend?

There's a really cool dude on the LGT forum who is a dentist of sorts in San Jose. Could find his name/practice if you like.

If you guys are broke and looking for a dentist that does good work without the ripoff, there's a place called Bay Dental in San Jose near Blossom Hill. They have online coupons that can't be beat.

I 've been seen Neil Smith in Los Altos for more than 20 years - he's awesome
Dentist Dedicated Quality Family Dentistry Children

He's frankly one of the only people I'm comfortable with giving injections

I surfed Yelp yesterday and found Perfect Smile Dental Care. They're 5 minutes from my work and they have really good reviews. We'll see how it goes...

You mean they're paying the "extortion" (advertising fees) in order for their good reviews not to be filtered out?

Hmm... Maybe... But they didn't come up as an ad. They came up as the closest place to my work. I specifically went after the bad reviews and there were very few.

I used to pick a dentist based on the hotness of the hygenist. Since she's (hopefully a she) is the one who is leaning over you all the time, it's important.

My previous hygenist got married and move to the east coast. I've been without a dentist since then.

True story.

Stay away from walmart type dentists. Perfect smile and Western dental.
These are the cattle call style brands that do not care about you. They just want your money. You will be pushed to get everything done at once and they will want to finance you for it all. I have seen used car dealers behave better then some of these places. Most of them are people with little experiences and fresh out of school.
I strongly suggest to Google any place you plan of going to.

For those without coverage. Dental insurance is getting cheaper. You can get good plans even with Medical for under $120 a month if you shop around. Course if you have pre-existing medical conditions that would change. But shop around. There are two types of dental plans out there. One is capped at what you can spend a year. The other has no cap. But you must choose and stick with one dentist as the insurance company sets up a contract to get the lower rates for you. I have also known people to get two forms of dental insurance and use one for all the major work. Then use the 2nd for all the co-pays.
Research before you pick a dentist. Dental pain is said that is on par with child birth. Bad dental work can also kill you. Also if you do not have coverage. Some places with discount for cash. So if you go that route. Ask for a cash discount.

If you really can not swing it. DVC in Pleasant Hill can do minor work. With their dental classes. And no its not some new student. Their clinic is for dentists that are moving up a level in their skill set. And there is also San Francisco college. I have heard lots of good things about both. And the best part is free or little out of pocket costs.

Yelp is a scam. I know people that get paid to right good reviews without even going to the place.
