Demolition derby on the freeway yesterday
I drove home from Monterey yesterday and there were wrecked cars all over the freeway. I saw at least a dozen cars that were facing the wrong direction, parked intimately against the center divider or in ditches on the way. I think the worst was an one that rolled on 680. There was also a multiple car (at least I think it was multiple car since there were seven cars on either side of the rode that had body damage) accident on the Sunol grade. A few of the cars were in the center divide, a couple of the others were up/down the dirt embankment and others were parked in the emergency lane.
I also had a scary incident where a 4x4 was driving a little ahead of me in the lane next to me (I was passing him) and we hit some standing water. All I saw was a wall of water heading towards me then the backside of a waterfall for a second or two. I couldn't see anything but water.
Anyway, be careful out there this weekend since there is supposed to be some heavy rains! It reminded me again why I bought the WRX instead of the other FWD cars I was looking into. The beauty of AWD!
P.S. I still have the RE-92's and they worked okay yesterday but I can't wait to wear them out so I can get some better all season tires.

Yeah, I put the stockers back on because I figured while it was wet I wouldn't be pushing the car that hard and the Kumho MX's aren't that great in the rain and it would give me a chance to wear them out so I can buy some new tires.
The WRX handle infinitely better than the 914 on wet asphalt (it doesn't help that the tires on the 914 are down to the wear bars ). I should probably swap the wheels and tires on my 914's since my other 914 has AVS's with 3/4 tread left but I've been lazy and it's been cold.
