DEATH to UNITED AIRLINES
So I fly a lot for work - over 100K miles/year. (Doesn't help that I now live in HK but love the bay so come back a lot...) I book a ticket by calling United Airlines a few days ago (last minute since I got sick), and I figured I'm their highest status flyer so everything should be fine. I check in online today and turns out they spelled my name wrong. They have my account with my name correctly spelled, but somehow on the ticket it's spelled wrong. So I call, and they "fix it". Now I'm on the flight, but with no seat reserved, no online checking capabilities, and probably will be in a middle seat next to a toilet for 14 hours on a ticket that cost as much as a business class ticket. And all because of their rep couldn't copy a name correctly. How is that fixed???
Sorry, I just had to vent.

***** and moan
I went on a flight to HI, they turned our plane around half way, back to SFO, sat on the ground in the plane for 3hrs while they bull****ted us, then they canceled it since they didnt have a crew to fly the plan back, all they gave me was a $100 off my next ticket

for 5 years I flew 100k+ for work (pre 911), am I glad I don't now. I'm surprised that being 100k platnum plus or what ever they call it member they couldn't help you.
last business trip to HK, they upgraded me to business class for free. nice for those trips back to asia.
I would call back and escalate and try to at least get decent seat.

I've tried, but didn't get anywhere. So as I told them, that's it for United. I just cancelled my ticket, cancelled the forward two bookings I had to come back, and gone and booked myself flights on Cathay Pacific Airlines. Cathay will give me similar status on their network of airlines, so I'm actually happier now haha. So much for United loyalty!

Could've been worse. One time when I was flighing out of newark, NJ we were in the plane for a total of 6 hours and didnt leave the runway. We made about 4 attempts but something kept overheating. They had to cancel the flight until the next day. I stayed at a hotel that night where my rental car got broken into. trip gone to hell right there

i've never had a bad experience flying. i fly an adequote amount, prolly around 100K in my life time.
wait, the worst experience i've had is coming back from france, i brought my own beer (note, i was underage at the time, ((for U.S. Laws)) and i cracked open a pint of stella artois (delicious) on the plane. the steward came by and took it straight out of my hands. i was like wtf, luckily i brought 8 other pints for the 14 hour flight along with me, and just kept them conceiled after that. lol that was fun.
oh also, i remmeber once i was a little tipsy (on the same flight) i went back to where the flight attendants sat and took a seat there, sprawled out across 4 of their seats. i got kicked out of those seats after 25 minutes. im not mad about that, just thought it was funny cause they threw this huge stink about it even though they werent sitting there.
*edit* ya i miss spelled a lot of ****, but that's because im drunk at the mometn.
