I'd just go with the STi mounts and the STi tranny mounts because of the way it changes the driveshaft angle and mechanics. I remember someone talking about this once and they posted a picture too of the angles.

You'd have to see what angles the Cusco mounts provide in respect to the alignment with the tranny, right?

I'm not too sure on the issue... but if anything i think the STi mounts would be stiffer or else people wouldn't have a need to buy them, right?

well, I know they are stiffer than stock....but I dont want to buy Sti, and then find out the Cusco is stiffer. I need it cause the torque is breaking the lil tab on my FMIC.

CUSCO mounts are replacement peices, so no angles change.

They are much more solid then the STi's so make sure your neck and back can handle it.

Alex, should I change the engine mounts AND the tranny mounts...or will that cause too much stress on the tranny, ect.??

Hmmmm...I know im not Alex but you brought up the previous question again.

The fact the Cusco engine mounts reduced flex on the engine made me wonder the same because the tranny would shift around more still than the engine. We know that it wouldn't change the angle to the tranny because it's a replacement part that gives the same angle to the tranny as the stock mounts. therefore it wouldn't hurt the tranny in that respect.


If Cusco made the tranny mount too (im not sure if they do) then you'd be set. So you may have to look into that or just go with the STi tranny and engine mounts to achieve the proper angle/stiffness on both ends.

From what I've seen the cusco mounts are very stiff. If you put any regular miles on your car I can't see wanting to go with anything stiffer than the STi stuff.

Make sure you're actually solving the problem with this line of thinking. I had solid dogbone mounts on another car I had... a slow car too... I ended up cracking 3 radiators before I switched to a compromise halfway between gushy stock and solid.

What I think was happening was that the solid mounts allowed more energy to enter the drivetrain, but also more to the chasis. So I had more chasis torquing/twisting than before. The radiator mounts weren't designed for this (neither was the chasis for that matter, or the damn car for that matter) so I stepped back on the stiffness of the mount.

Stiffer engine mounts might make it worse. Have you though of cushioning the FMIC at its mounts?
