I think everyone with citi got a new card or something because the same thing happened to me but in my case i had no extra chargers. I believe one of their databases was unsecured or something causing people to be able to get card numbers.

But I recommend having one of the credit identity monitor things since you get all your credit scores and everything that is open with your name tied to it and the account balance so its easier to spot if someone opens a card under your name. This happened to my friend twice before she was 19 and one was a mortgage with her name on it but this was like 3 years ago

The Rules are....

If anyone calls about your account asking security questions....

- The bank/card company already has this information don't give it out
- Say: thank you, I will contact my account security office and hang up.
- Call your bank/card company and see if you have any issues.

yeh, we've seen some increase in falso claims, but it's a toss up between people purposely filing the false claim, and merchant beginning to charge under different names either to consolidate or to save money, etc.

With the economy the way that it is, people are definitely trying to take advantage of some of the wonderful things about RegZ that are meant to help people in distress...

Still waiting on my 2nd card and like I said.. this has happened to me before from Citi. I've only ever had issues with Citi and will probably never get another card from them again.

The only good thing about using credit cards is that they usually almost always give you your money back as long as you catch it on time but like every dispute.. it will almost always take time and a LOAD of stress.

But I still do believe using credit cards is the best way to make purchases. If you pay by cash.. you almost never have any history of purchases unless you keep the receipts which degrade over time. Plus, starting young will always help your credit score as long as you keep making payments on time. Hell, it helped me get low financing rate on my wrx and soon student loan.

I have BofA and just do automatic bill pays and have NEVER had a late payment. FICO score is well in the upper 700s to lower 800s. I started early with my mom during my first year of HS building computers and such for friends and family (Cash --> CC) and took advantage of those free cash credit card deals. Those are always great.. it's like getting your tax return all year round.

Anyway, I'm just ranting.. on vicodin right now from dental surgery ouch.

I pretty much check my credit card statements now every week at the least. I seriously can't stand people who do these types of things.. i work my a555 off going to school and working to help support my family and myself.. and these scum just want to take what i've worked hard for.

be careful. I got this shady *** call from bofa saying to call them back at this number. It was a joke I didn't even take it seriously. Then I talked to bofa a day later about fraud. It really was them calling. Luckily they had stopped my card so. Same thing happend to my dad. Both of us linked to checking, pretty large limits and they stopped em both within 200 for my dad and 100 for me.

Sadly bofa tricked me into thinking i'd get these forms, never sent em like they said. I was commuting 100 miles a day at the time working a lot. Everytime I stopped in they said I had to wait for a special person, finally I did it recently. to my horror they had never even filed a claim and the max is 90 days to get your money. My bofa person yelled at them said it was bs they never sent the forms and even stupider they didn't ever open the claim since they found the fraud on their own and stopped the card. Barcelona etc... and she got my money back within 24 hrs. BALLERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR shes pretty fine too

I feel you. Add one more 0 at the end, that was my damage number. I was in a panic mode after that. Although I got them all back, I'm on look out to protect my ID. Make sure you do follow up on that issue; i.e. close that account and report to fraud alert. Google it.
