could somebody explain to me how ticket's work?
uh... so a friend of mine got a speeding ticket today. the officer said he would be nice and not cite it as a vehicle citation and therefore not have it show on my permanent record and the insurance wouldn't know about it. so basically, the ticket is from the "East Bay Regional Park District/East Bay Municipal Utility Dist".
my questions:
what's the difference between a misdemeanor and infraction?
If the person is under 18, he/she MUST appear in court right?
What does "Booking required" mean?
How can one tell that this won't show up on the permanent record.
thanks for any help.
please don't flame. Speeding is bad. yes.
-jeffrey.

I got a ticket exactly like that said "East Bay Regional Park District/East Bay Municipal Utility Dist" for wreckless driving (misdemeanor AHHHH!! 2 points?!?) on Grizzly Peak in Berkeley last November. Psssh, the cop HATED me, under "minor" he put NO, even though he knew I was only 17 and he put "moderate traffic", even though I was the ONLY car on the road at 1 AM. My court date was scheduled the same day as my AP Lit final and there wasn't anything I could do about it. Does the ticket have a big yellow stripe on it? Read the back, there's loads of fine print, and it says that if you're a minor, you need a parent/legal guardian to appear with you in court. But I guess I got lucky, three days before my court date, I got a letter excusing my appearance in court, bascially saying I didn't need to come but this did not mean that the DMV couldn't suspend or revoke my license.

i was with my friend. he was going from fish ranch to the golf course. It was on Grizzly Peak.
said he went 10 mph over the limit. cited for 45 on a 35. Yes it has those yellow stripes on em. ack.
"Conditions: Cloudy Sky, Daylight, Dry Road, Moderate Traffi
Remarks: Warned for Streetracing" <-- that's soo untrue! Just because somebody is going 10 mph and is a kid doesn't mean he's RACING. ugh.
lol.
Richmond Superior Court<-- ewww...haha.
what happened to you dude?

I bet we had the same officer too. Was he a fat redneck looking man? Did that big truck thing pull you guys over too? The first thing he says when I roll down my window is "WHAT WAS THAT?!!!!!! DO YOU WANT ME TO IMPOUND YOUR LITTLE CAR FOR DRUNK DRIVING?! DRUNK-I MEAN WRECKLESS DRIVING!" Trying to play the cute, innocent, little sobbing girl didn't work with him, he just kept screaming at me. He thought I was busting donuts, but clearly I wasn't, and I think that's why my court date got dropped, it was BS. My "estimated speed" was 35 mph. I'll go dig up the ticket and find his name and the specifics of my citation.

the guy was a skinny white dude with a buz cut. White hair. He was mad of course. i think his last name was O'neil. he didn't drive one of those ugly trucks. But he did call in one of em because he thought we were gonna run. we passed by him going the other direction and he busted a FAT U. haha.

I know I got a federal citation for basic rule violation on a forest service road a couple years ago, I just paid it and it did not come back on my cal DMW record, don't know if the regional parks are the same way though, - I kind of doubt it- but who knows?
