Comic Book Guru's! I need your help!

For my debate class our topic for Tuesdays Debate is as follows:

"This house believes that the Justice League saves the Earth better then the Avengers."

My team needs to prove that the Avengers save the Earth better... but I know absolutely nothing about comics.

I know they are going to talk about World War Hulk.

Basically, if you know of any instance where there was death and destruction on Earth... or the Earth was saved, let me know what comic that happened in so I can look up more information.

I really need your help guys and gals.

Thanks
Rob

Dude I loved debate in high school. You could say I was a master debater. What debate format are you using? I'm assuming like Lincoln-Douglas? Are you pro or con? Your umbrella argument is why the Justice League has better Earth-saving capabilities than the Avengers. You don't need to cite specific instances of saving a planet from destruction otherwise it'll disintegrate into a nerd argument, and really if you want that, go to a comicon. Having said that, it is nice to cite the examples. From there, go into more specific points of contention. "Iron Man is an Avenger....but he's based on human written and developed software and hardware, you really think that one human's work is going to hold a candle against Super ****IN man?!" or "The Hulk has as much destructive capabilities as he does saving, which really negates any positive effect he held for the Avengers, therefore in the interest of debating, we shall avoid talking about this point." Obviously, you have to word it in a more sophisticated manner, but don't alienate your judges; just make sure you sound like you know what you're talking about.

Sounds like this class is for more research based debates? That's lame! I used to do Parliamentary debates. A good debate topic would've been: This house believes that Superman is better than Batman. From there, you get 20 minutes of prep, then a 50 minute debate round.

It's my for my college Debate class haha.

It's a fact/value debate.

I know the formating and everything, but the problem is that I know NOTHING about comics... seriously nothing. If we talk about the specific instances that the "alternate" Earth's were destroyed in DC then we will be on top of our game for sure.

Shooting Hulk out into space was not one of their finest moments...

Hulk angry
Hulk free
Hulk conquer planet
Hulk have son
(Ship they stuck him on explodes, kills his wife, people, ect)

World War Hulk!

The end sucked though..

No civilians died in WWH, which is a good counter argument to "Earth Saving".

Well, are they debating old school avengers, or the alternate ultimate timeline?

I realize that this may be an uphill battle, but debating is not always about being completely factual. Since there is so much information out there... we can manipulate data to our advantage IF they don't know about the specific stories.
