No, no weed Kyle. I'm setting up a keg system for the homebrew. I think Jeff's response will remain the same either way, weed or brew on tap.

Zerg, thanks for that list. If MoreBeer in Los Altos is able to swap the tank too (they are a retail front for the Beer beer and More beer warehouse/retail place in Concord) I'll let you know so you can put that on your list.

Well the Los Altos More Beer location does do tank exchanges, but only 5# tanks and not ones stamped by Pepsi

I think dealing with underpaid large company employees (Praxair, Air Gas) that don't care too much about their job/the company will give me better luck.

Well that's too bad.

Do you need to make sure you are using a "food grade" C02 or anything? I am not sure, but I think I heard someone mention that once before.

BTW - I may have scored an entire full-boil brewing setup plus kegging (I know I hate me too sometimes) so if there is spares I will let you know.

Try Carbonix if you can't find someone to do an exchange. They will refill your empty tank for you. I think it cost somewhere around $20 to fill a 20lbs tank with Co2.

If food grade is available, I'll go for that, but everything I've read on homebrewtalk.com (a pretty good brewing forum) has said to go to a welding supply shop, so I assume food grade is not essential.

Do you happen to know their address or website? Nevermind, I assume you mean Carbonic. I'll shoot them an email. I'd rather hold on to my tank anyways because its from a Carnie and says "Weiner Wagon" on the side. Yes, misspelled.

I still need a place to get it hydro tested though, most fill/exchange shops don't do that.

i used to clean public pools and set all of their chemicals up. a lot of pools use co2 to lower the pH of the pool water when they are using sodium hypo-chloride and other types of chlorination.

i bet you could try any pool supply store or find out where they get there co2 shipments from.

Yep, I mean Carbonic, I have no idea why I call them "Carbonix" (maybe that was the company I used to get helium from back in Sactown). Not sure if they hydrotest though.

Just dropped the tank off at Carbonic. Friendly people there! I hate when you go to a shop like that and they are like "I know everything about this industry so why don't you?" $42.40 for the 20# tank to by hydro tested and filled, and they didn't say anything about the Pepsi tag or etching. Should get the tank back in a week and a half (one week turnaround, but only picked up on Wednesdays for testing).

Kegerator is slowly taking shape!
