Racing crackdown set

Citrus Heights police expect to be out in force this weekend for the start of a crackdown on street racing on Sunrise Boulevard.
Speed limits will be strictly enforced, officials said. The goal is to improve street safety in Citrus Heights, which recorded 887 collisions and 18 fatalities involving excessive speed between 2000 and 2003, officials said.
Drivers with modified tailpipes and emission systems also can expect scrutiny, police said. In a news release, Sacramento County sheriff's Sgt. Rich Rider said many of those modifications are illegal and result in excessive noise.

Its sad that customizing your car, whether or not you street-race is becoming a crime. Times are changing everyone. Funny thing is if a Mustang went down the street with loud flows he wouldnt get a secong look from the police, but if you came by in a wrx with a borla hush, you would get stopped cause of the type of car, and the shiny exhaust, even though its super quiet! Or even better a stock STi !!!!!

Wrong I have friend's in mustangs, camaros, cutlasses, a nova, and chevelles that get pulled over relentlessly for exhaust. And dont even gete me started about my bike. Although I think it's mostly a money making scheme for the cops this weekend, as they know CMI at sac. raceway will be attracting many "illegal" cars. I was going to go run on sunday, but not anymore Thanks for the heads up.

Yea, it was. I was about a day away from buying it, but then I found a better deal over in Daly City. Funny thing is, is that a week or 2 after I got my car, I met the person who bought the car from over in citrus heights in the mountains. I dont know how any of this is relevant, but whatever.

The cops will be busy if they pull everyone over for loud exhaust. Seems like everyone has an aftermarket exhaust. Too bad they cannot pull harley riders for loud exhaust. I don't think they will make a dent in street racing. Too many roads to race on (madison, sunrise, douglas, etc).

I drove down Sunrise around 10pm on saturday night from Douglas to Hwy 50. The only thing I noticed differently were warnings on the large electric signs around greenback. the usual stupidity was going on, and there were a few cars pulled over, but that's normal for sunrise.
