and the thing why cops love lidar, not only does it not pick up on radar detectors, but they can shoot you from about 1,500 feet away.

Your guys CHP must have more money than the northbay chp because I have never been hit with lidar up here in these parts. East bay sure, on all of the 80's absolutely, but up here on the 101 all i ever get is radar. Recently I have gotten at a lot of Ku alerts, which when I got my radar detector was supposedly only being used in Europe at the time, with a handful of Dept in the US using it.

However, as many times as I have had the alert, I have yet to see any sort of traffic officer.

My advice just keep the speed down. 90 is not even neccesary, ever. I was told the last time I got a speeding ticket (some 3+ years ago *knocks on wood*) that if I was only going 10 over he wouldnt have even bothered with me. SO ever since then I have taken that as my rule, 10 over thats it. And by using this rule I have gone as long as I have without another ticket.

Plus when you have child, it programs your brain to drive different. Unless your a terrible parent like the guy I saw in the rain yesterday doing 60 in a 35 with 2 carseats in the back.

really? my V1 picks them ALL up, if anything its TOO sensitive (the Infiniti thing)

But yeah, Ive had my V1 for 5 years now, and I drive all over the full length of the bay area all the time for work and i honestly dont see that big of a increase in CHP using laser in the last 5 years. They still overwhelmingly use Ka band radar, I figured when I bought my V1 it would be obsolete by now becasue it would all be laser by now but honestly I still get about 10 Ka CHP hits for every 1 laser hit. Honestly if it werent for the false Infiniti thing I get once in a while I would probably already have forgotten the sound for laser

They use it, but it's infrequent and typically when they're doing a speed trap. One of the most notable spots is the Todd Rd. exit where one officer will sit on the overpass and laser people while radioing to other officers sitting on the shoulder waiting to pounce. That and motorcycle cops. They seem to use laser exclusively because it's a hell of a lot easier for them to sit stationary somewhere where no one notices them.

on the freeways, chp is looking for the 8-...speeding fines double from 0-15mph over the speedlimit to 15mph+

so a 81mph ticket will be significantly more than a 80mph

Lidar and Ka bands are completely different. There's a reason why the V1 makes a hellava lot more noise for lidar than Ka when first detected. Radar is emitted in a conic shape, the further you're away from the source, the wider it gets which allows radar detectors to pick that up. Laser is a beam, so it only directs at one car. You might get lucky and have a laser hit a car in between you and the cop and you pick it up, but other than that, if your V1 is going off, the cop already has your speed. No 10 second window.

QFT
Last year my Escort 8500 starting going off with Laser when I was driving up to Tahoe on 80. Sure enough, when I looked up in the distance their he was under an overpass with his gun. Pulled me over shortly after passing him. Once you get hit with Laser your done, thier is no time to slow done or do anything. With radar you still may have a chance

so basically after reviews and tests the v1 only outperformed the 8500 x50 in lidar so... if its all about detecting ka then my choice still goes to escort. unless you really want directional

All the motorcycle cops I know use Lidar. Nothing new really.
