Horrifying that this officer could keep his job. 107mph on anything other than a highway/freeway/track is absolutely negligent. How anyone could defend the police officer that acted this way is unbelievable.

what a ****ing shame....
ive already lost all hope in most police officers/sheriffs all together this is just like the pinnacle of abuse they definitely commit and probably get away with 95% of the time..
whether it goes along with their common powertrip personalities or for whatever other reason, it literally seems like ive met less than 4-5 cops total that seem do their job correctly(or what common sense would define as correct) and what they're enlisted for and dont abuse their position a little bit
cant believe because of it this time somebody(a fellow brethren at that), got hurt because of their bull****... sad, and the fact that he'll only get a slap on the wrists too, thank god the kid survived

I wouldn't say that's true. There are folks that hold to that whole ideal that having law enforcement creates criminals. That's B.S.
Yes there are bad seeds in law enforcement just like there are in the education system, the medical field and the churches. Just like there are good dudes in prison.
The problem is there is kind of a catch 22 in this situation. It's like trying military folks for crimes of war. You start telling people that they might get put in prison for shooting someone during a time of war and they might hesitate and end up the ones dead. You start telling a law enforcement that they can't do certain things then they might not do it when it's needed.
This case is pretty clear though. This dude should have been put on leave without pay, put under review and terminated. What he was doing was not only unsafe as a practice on the job but illegal. Doing that in a car that's not black and white you get prison time... a lot of it.
But saying they do more harm than good isn't really true. I have my own opinions about the CHP and their usefulness at this point but I separate the CHP from PD/Sheriff.
I come from a family full of law enforcement officers and have some friends in it and trying to get in to it. I actually took the test but recruitment shut down everywhere. My brother in law just got shot at for no other reason that being inside of a police car. Crazy.

The situation is indeed tragic and I wish both parties as full of mental/physical recovery as possible.
That said, we will never know 100% both sides of the situation, so put the pitchfoks away. Was the impreza speeding? Was its turn legal? Did he see the officer approaching (lights or not) and still chose to turn? Was he paying attention or was he looking down at his phone? Was he driving impared?
I am not defending the cop, but we also don't know everything to issue a judgement beyond all resonable doubt.
FYI: I haven't watched the video yet, as my client blocks any type of media streaming.

I don't care if the impreza driver was blindfolded, steering with his knees and holding a spoon in one hand and a syringe in the other. It sucks that he got hurt, but sometimes life sucks - at least he's not dead.
You're right, we don't know 100% of what happened that night. However, we can be 99% sure that the cop was grossly negligent from one simple fact: his speed. There has never been a good reason to be going that fast without lights and sirens ESPECIALLY when there is potential for cross traffic!

so... he was speeding to respond to a call about a stolen bike? i guess cops only speed out to crimes that are not serious, because i've never gotten a cop when i seriously needed one.

this is the most full of **** statement i have ever seen, you have no idea what you are talking about, you're making a generalization that really should encompass all jobs and not law enforcement. think before you speak
