i dont know if this makes a difference for the smog sensor they put in the exhaust pipe, but when you have dual exhaust, they only have one sensor. My old Blown Taco (Superchrged Tacoma tuned) passed a smog test in Sunnyvale.

Do you think the exhaust coming out of one tail pipe is different than the exhaust coming out of the other.

A perfect example of wasted law enforcement budget. And they wonder why the state is so broke. Theres so many real crimes happening and they are have the surveilence teams trying to bust some car enthusiasts just trying to be able to register their cars (which registration has doubled as well, I wonder why?).

tuned
a stock regular car is what they are going to be running it on
and if you dont have a carb number on the cats it should not have passed the ref
but YAY!! you did thats awesome
when i got my ref ticket it would have costed me 500-600$ under the table to have mine pass

Sigma is CORRECT, you shouldn't have even passed. You may "pass" the sniffer test, but if that cat does not have any carb/eo #s and/or they do NOT match to be for your vehicle you should have failed.
so meaning even if you know you will pass with any ol cat, if the #s dont match after they research it to say its for your vehicle its an auto-fail.
nice state ref you got there if they overlooked this, or you got lucky.
and yes FMIC is legal.
to the person who got turned away, refer to the smog handbook, its clearly stated on there.

How can a state ref check all your cats like that? The first cat isn't the easiest thing to get to.. .
Also, wouldn't it be easy to use the old cat's numbers and such and put them onto the new one?
When I got my RS reffed a while back (like 10 years ago) the guy didn't really do much... Did the sniffer, inspected my engine bay, and that was it... Took like 30 mins all together with paper work. I had a cat back exhaust on, and all he did was look under the car for like a second to see if the cats were there... I remember thinking "damn, I could have had hi-flow cats and he wouldn't have even known".

but im sure one bank is ever so slightly better than the other
but enough to pass fail i dunno
but if we had two banks running it we would only have to put on cat back on

i dont have to answer questions any more
yeah it was a good deal for him we should all go to that guy
the rule on the intercooler is:
if it has one, you have to have one on there any kind on it
if it didnt come with one, you dont have to have one but can put one
