Also, check out clothing and equipment with recco reflectors embedded in them.

My standard stuff for going to backcountry is backpack filled with shovel, probe, food, water, rope, caribiners (sp?), small first aid kit, extra pair of socks, fleece, gloves, snow test gear, toilet paper, a flashlight, small snowboard tool, a couple extra screws, and that should about do it. I might be missing something, in there still, but that is most of it.

Wow that's a crazy video. Got me scared for sure, but I tend to stay away from areas that something that severe could happen in. Just to be sure though I bought a sessions jacket with a Recco reflector attached to it.

Video has been around a while. Scary stuff.
If you plan on riding big mountains proper gear and proper training is essential. You panic you die.
I've set 2 sizable avis off. Been lucky. Outran oneand turned out of the other.
I've been riding wit ricco for years. Every little thing helps.

word. Training is the key point there. SO many people get them but don't take the classes... which are free... and with out know how to use them are damn near useless.
I really need to pick up a nice one and a probe. I'll pick all of that stuff before I go on my heli trip--- which is in the plan at some point.
At the very least turn your GPS on on your phone and stick it in your pocket and NEVER ride alone. I do a TON of OB and soft bounds riding at EVERY resort I go to and I've needed help a couple times.
I've had some close calls and I refuse to ride alone. Even if I'm just groomer smashing.
