i remember checking the hks website a while back before, and it did state that the carbon exhaust is 50 state smog legal, however smog legal doesn't mean sound legal. I dont remember seeing that it states it's 50 state sound legal as well.

All you guys need to do is stand up for yourselves if ever asked to pop your hoods by a cop. I refuse when they tell me to, sure it gets them pissed off, (I've even been cursed at), but I get off scott-free...

someone on nasioc tried to get past the db level at a smog ref station with a straight pipe ( no muffler ) and cat only IIRC, he was mesured at a little over 97db

I think even the Carbon TI would help muffle a tad more then the straight pipe did, so I cannot see it being 102db like its stated :/

I have always wondered what would happed if I tried this. They need a search warrent to actually force you to pop your hood do they not?

Oh, and Berkeley cops rule. The only things they ever say about my car are compliments :-).

UC cops on bikes are cool too. haha. especially when they come and kick crazy homeless bums out of the architecture building at 2am. guess they get power trips when they get a cop car.

ehh i dont know, all UC cops are known to be ***'s i was biking on campus and 2 of them were going to give me a ticket but they got a call and ran away. the Berkely bike cops are sweet too. If something ever happens to you by a Berkely cop ask if they know Officer Allen and then say you know his son and see what they do, haha
Oh yea, my dad said he was talking to a kid with a silver wrx i think and it had black rims and like a exhaust and stuff any of you that guy?? just wondering

A friend of mine with a GSR swapped Honda got pulled over. The cop noticed he had an aftermarket exhaust so he "requested" him to pop the hood. As soon as my friend respectfully declined to pop his hood, the "request" turned into a demand. So my friend told the cop that he'd like to see a search warrant for his car. Bad mistake.

The cop then asked him again to pop the hood and he said no. So what the cop did was arrest (not detain) my friend for NOT complying with an officer and his car went to the impound. The officer said while it's waiting at the impound, he'll then have a warrant for it while my friend stays a night in jail.

So would I want to go through all that hassle? Probably not.

Ugh, even though this is an old *** tread, I'll respond to this. With probable cause they do not need a warrant, modified exhaust gives enough probably cause to search under the hood
