Car Battery Recommendation
My 2007 sti's car battery just crapped out and need a new one stat. Once doing some reseach I see that there are a lot of options and to say the least its overwhelming. My sti currently had an Panasonic battery (didn't even knew they made batterys, was it stock?). I saw that the batterys weight a bunch, but i don't need a crazy light 18 pound light weirght one, just one that can handle super hot summer temps in Sacramento, and 15 degree temps in tahoe in the winter. Some battery weight savings would be cool, but not if it risks reliability and longevity.
Thanks again Guys,
Cameron
P.S. Just post what you recommend and price, and what is out there thats total crap

i have a deka mini battery. was cheap as hell and weighs only 12 or 13lbs. they have other options that arent that small. i spent less than 100 for the battery and terminals and havent had a problem since i got it over 18 months ago

best bang for the price?
check out the autozone batts. when the OEM one died in my 04 STi 4 years ago, made a quick purchase of their 2nd most expensive model.
then i thought i killed it when i left it sitting for over 2 weeks... but after a jump start, it's been going strong since. this was like 2 years or so later so it was over the 2 year warranty.
cost me like $80 with a warranty nationwide. the more expensive one was like $100. with a year longer warranty.
best batt, imo, is the sears rebranded odessey batts, labeled as their PLATIMUN line. i have one in my truck.
before, for over 15 years, i had nothing BUT optima batts. i mean i had a red top in there since 1992, before anyone knew what optima was. until like 5 years ago when the last red top finally died. so i went got another red top. but now, optima brand is under a bigger umbrella of a company and QC has gone to hell.
within 6 months, the "new" red top would barely hold a charge. then i heard about sears selling a rebranded oddesey and like $50 less.
spent like $190 for one and it's been great. would not hesistate buying another platinum labeled one. plus you have a nationwide warranty with sears!

i personally have not dealt with many batteries... i have an interstate battery which i havent had problems with... but people say they have not had any problems with the optima red top battery! Seen people who have had the battery for over 3 years and never had a problem... but that does not mean that they dont have problems... i say go with what he ^ said!

Costco hasn't let me down after I've thrown it in. 3 years and cranking strong.
My Odyssey barely held a charge after 1.5 years, but it was one of those lightweight ones, that I should have been smarter and not used for daily driving.

Thanks for all of the info so far guys, keep it coming. I don't have a AAA membership or Costco card so count those places out. I saw on Autozone.com after i entered in my car info that they have a Duralast gold 35-DLG for 118, any idea if thats a decent battery? it has a 8 year warrenty with 660 CCA, which seems to exceed the factory standards. Need the battery tonight/tomorrow morning and im located with in a mile of auto zone, napa, and kragen.

My batt. is getting weak. It takes like 3 umphs to start the motor, if that makes any sense. When I fist bought the car it took 1/2 an umph, now it is 3. I have a multimeter but I have not checked it. Everything runs fine after the motor gets started so I think the alternator is fine. was looking at the red top but now I am not sure.

I got a cheap interstate battery from firestone. I think it was under 50 dollars after tax with a coupon. 2 year free replacement.
Check the firestone website for current coupons.
