But on a serious note, if you knew your valve cover gasket was out, I would've taken anything that "could" void the warranty (Exhaust, AP, Intake) off and went in. It's like trying to pass smog with a catted downpipe thats aftermarket.... Why try when you know "it may be related", yeah I call BS on Subaru's part but its like trying to say, I have lowering springs and my LCA bushings went out. It's considered a "direct" cause for the dealers.

I doubt Anthony can comment on it without putting his job on the line. Sounds like some miscommunication none the less. I know aftermarket downpipes kill axle boots pretty fast. Was the heat shield completely missing or was an aftermarket one installed?

hmmm lets see here, new car with leaky valve cover, if you did not remove it that only points to one thing.... Too much pressure in the crank area causing oil to be pushed out of the cover. ringland failed? too much blow by passing the pistons.

Bottom line, dude looks at car and make judgement before looking at it. Thinks he can state something that only SOA can state. Even if there was real work done on the car to route out why it occurred, that dude will somehow say something else caused it and you won't get any help from it.

So I'd just take it elsewhere. **** him

He had a leakdown and compression test done like three weeks ago. Passed with flying colors.

That doesn't work, FYI. There are often clear signs of tampering.

If the car was never modded the dealer would fix ringland under warranty, but any sign of mods it would get decline right away. There could be many reason that would cause the ringland to crack, too much boost putting too much stress on the rings pushing down on the ring lands, running lean causing too much knock, too much timing by someone messing with the tune.
