Capitol Subaru?
#106
I've had really bad experiences with Capitol Subaru unfortunately. Justin in a good guy and was helpful but the work done on my car was very sub par. I had my turbo replaced, went bad at 40k for some reason, no mods. Got the car back and noticed a week later that they had not tightened the lug nuts on the front right tire, all were loose enough to spin with my hand and one had come completely off. I took it back to have them check on the front wheel/axle and replace head gaskets replaced, I get it back and as soon as it warms up it starts pluming white smoke. I have to take it back again and get the engined washed. All this was warranty work so its hard to complain about free service but not tightening the wheel is very dangerous and all this could have been avoided if the techs had been a little more careful.

No matter how hard I try I can't trust anyone at a dealership unless I have a personal relationship with them.
Oh, I posted my first hand experience with Capitol's sales department.

There are a lot of options out there, I have many at my disposal.
Will try Capitol Subaru because it's closest, if it fails me I will go to Santa Cruz Subaru. They are open on saturdays too.
Never posted when the time the tech forgot to put stuff back together, and my wheel well cover flew off and bumper fell a little. Techs have to be more careful!! It's a hazard if stuff is put on incorrectly.
Quick update:
Went to Capitol again on the 13th of March, service department handled everything promptly. I was updated about the condition of the car, and what was done (specifically). Left worry free (definately a plus), and glad to know Justin's a fan of my posts. This one's for the J (oint) Man!
Summary: Exceeded expectations, treated like any customer would like to be treated.

I'll talk to them, and see if I can get them to host another event. I have become quite good friends with several of the techs and service guys, and stop by there atleast 2-3 times per week. I'll run it by them tonight when I stop by and see what they say.

I just spoke with Capitol Suby, and they do currently have another meet in the planning stages as we speak. They are hoping this next meet will be their biggest meet to date and are very excited about it. Tentatively they are planning on having the meet on either June 21st OR June 28th, depending on the availability of their techs.
I will be sure to post more information when it becomes available. Consider this post as a "feeler" for their next meet. As the details get finalized and set in stone, I will post an official thread for the next Capitol Suby meet.
Lets hear what you guys think about those two dates...
Which date works best for you guys?
How many of you are interested in attending the meet?
Any suggestions, questions, comments or concerns?
Pancakes or Waffles?

First: Turbo's aren't meant to last forever. Keep in mind that a turbo is exposed to extreme temperature changes, and extremely high RPM's, which are both cause for wear and tear(especially if you don't keep your oil clean). If the installation of the turbo was the problem, it most likely would not have lasted 40,000 miles.
Second: You are SUPPOSED to go back and re-torque the lug nuts after about 50 miles of driving or so. Same thing is normally recommended when you change exhaust gaskets. Reason why you do this is because after the parts get heated up, the metal expands. This can cause the lugs/bolts to become loose and back out, then when they cool down again, they will remain loose. The more heating/cooling cycles that are allowed to happen before re-torquing can cause things like Lug nuts to come off, or exhaust leaks to re-develop shortly after changing gaskets.
edit: Normally when you re-torque, the parts will remain tight after that, its just the initial tightening of bolts that needs to be re-checked(after the first heating/cooling cycle), as they were first tightened when the parts were "cold."

It wasn't WD40?

I know this is an old post, but I wanted to throw something out there about these issues.

And to Andrew, no, it was not just some WD-40. I have done my UP/DP since then and used a whole can of PB Blaster on that job and there was no comperision. I drove for 5 min, let it sit for about 5 min, and people were still asking me what was wrong with the car because it was still smoking a lot.
