Can't boost more than 10psi?

Hey guys,

I havent done anything lately to my car (2004 WRX), and I just noticed that instead of boosting 12-13.5psi in 3-5th gears, it's only pushing 10psi in all gears. Do you guys know of anything that could have happenend?

My mods that could affect the boost are: Helix DP, Worx Valve, Autometer boost gauge. I already took the bov off and checked if that was problem, and it still only boosted 10psi.

Also, when I floor it in 3rd, it seems as the boost jumps to 11psi, then backs down to 10psi and stays there.

Any ideas? Possibly a leaky gauge or some kinda leak along the boost gauge line? Should I try adjusting the wastegate maybe?

Did it just happen all of a sudden? Was it after you installed a certain part?

Try resetting the computer and see if it still does it.

could you have left a hose unplugged or something when u took out the bov. Reason i'm suggesting is that a lot of people take off the intercooler and sometimes forget to plug them back up.

I just noticed this low boost condition when on my way back from San Diego (to the bay area).

I just reset the computer, still only seeing 10lbs of boost. The car feels exactly the same, somehow I think that the autometer gauge might be off calibration. When the car idles though, the gauge is still at 20hg (correct units?) like it did before the boost problem.

Do you think a leak in the line going to the boost gauge can cause a low-boost condition, or possible make the gauge constantly read exactly 10psi instead of 12-13?

By the way, how do I test if my autometer gauge is reading correctly? Should I somehow run wastegate pressure and see what the gauge says?

Oleg

Where do you have your boost gauge tapped into? Is it tapped into the BOV hose or the manifold source? Are you sure the vacuum T is not leaking?

Check your wastegate and turbo vacuum lines for cracks. It could be running off of wastegate pressure, but that is usually 8psi.

Check your intercooler clamps. Maybe the intercooler hoses are leaking as well.

Did you reset the ECU completely? Make sure the trip meter turns back to zero. Then perform the Shiv quick learning ECU trick.

Good luck Oleg,

Karl

Thanks for the advice Karl, I'll make sure to check all those hoses as soon as I get my new rims put on today . I completely reset the ECU, the trip odometers reset to 0, and all the radio stations were gone. Btw, I remember you telling me that you broke quite a few autometer boost gauges, what happened? Did they start reading incorrectly?

I'm thinking that I have a leak somewhere for sure, but don't know exactly where. And I taped my gauge using the bov hose, and a plastic T. I think the T may have gotten damaged.

Any other imput is welcome.

Oleg
