Cliff Notes: I was there, I saw, and I think Peter's fast...but I'm faster!!!
Haha, it's funny this is still being talked about. I was there at the event. I raced with all of them in the time trial. Just for the record I have a "non-modded" STi. I changed my wing to the WRX wing and had the pads changed, worn out the original set because of too much "spirited driving".
I have to say, the main character Peter, is pretty fast in his Mini. Though his car was gutted and race-prep with slicks, coilovers, some engine mods, and stuff. The STi guy Mike, had modded suspension, race tires, intake, headers, exhaust, and chip. He puts out about 320 to the wheels, according to his tuner's estimates.
Peter was doing about 1:40.xx on Saturday and Mike 1:46.xx. But when crunch time came on Sunday, Peter could only turn a 1:42.7 and Mike improved to a 1:42.3. A close race. I thought Peter would have won because of his proclaimed "28+" years of track experience where Mike had none... Peter claimed his Khumo tires were crap. But with a 320 whp moster vs a 170 whp gokart, I think Peter drove better than Mike to make it this close. Anyway, a win is a win and a good race none the less.
BTW, my time was 1:40.8. I lost to 2 brothers from Vivid Racing. One with a WRX and one with an EVO, both heavily modded.
