I once battled a Mini Cooper S on the pagemill uphill and the dude couldnt hang with me, I think he drove his car off a cliff or went home because we waited for him at the top and he never showed.

actually, pintos are pretty dang fast/quick.......the ones i've seen anyways!

as for the mini vs STi debate, i don't wanna be a car snob, esp since mins ARE NOT cheap, but IMO, they're just like Miatas....pretty fun little cars that handle well and can be wicked performers w/a few mod$, but i definitely wouldn't wanna be seen driving one!!

To quote one of the dumby Mini posts:

"wow those guys are kind of retarded. i like how they say a "stock STI" ...hello the STI is basically a WRX modded and is pretty much more a race car than a daily driver. i didn't doubt he would lose. he is all talk most of the time anyways. whatever, i wouldn't trade my MCS for anything. "

Yeah cause um putting a beefed up 2.5 engine, turbo, suspension, 6-speed, and many related parts such as tighter steering and adjustable LSD...that's just a modded WRX.

OWNED!!!

Miata > Mini based on sharing racetracks with both.

It's a modded Mini being driven by a pro. The STi is almost bone stock and the driver has no track experience.

I hate Minis, but that's my problem. Had issues with a couple of their owners being unwilling to admit that my puny little Subaru was faster at Thunder Hill. :-p

yes it is-
minis can rock the sti- in terms of turns. . .
but the last time i checked most racetracks do have straightaways...
now if i was gonna rob someones house and drive through their hallways and then zoom down a stairwell then the mini is my choice.

Nah. My RS is VERY similar to an STi handling wise (I have a little less understeer) and I was faster than modded Minis at Thunder Hill.
