California AVOID Anti-DUI Program

Seasons Greetings to all! While 'tis the season to eat, drink & be merry, please do your part in keeping our roads safe.

I posted a li'l mention of this increased awareness in a South Bay meet thread already last nite, but I think this issue warrants a reminder to a wider audience.

Sober driving is the only way to go. Period.

To drive this message home, Bay Area law enforcement agencies will be in full force to curtail "the pain, death and property damage impaired drivers often cause." While we should always be concerned with such poor behavior and poor judgment all the time, it's even more important during the holiday season and its associated opportunities of driving under the influence.

Click here (http://www.californiaavoid.org/releases_d.php?ID=1352) for the full details of the three-week campaign, which began this past Fri, 12 Dec and runs thru midnite on Thur, 1 Jan.

Thank you & Happy Holidays!

Yeah, I figured you'd be the biggest supporter of sober driving, Jen.

Remember, folks...

Hotel room $150 > DUI Many thousands.

Yea, I'm a firm believer in mixing my booze with my pleasure and practice this activity during the holidays often. I will also be the first one in the group to sport for a hotel room or cab ride home. Equally as dangerous is falling asleep while driving, don't drive when you're dog tired.

So drink and be merry. But why not take a cab, or if it's too far, just get a room. Problem solved. Happy holidays!

Yeah, they are definately out there in full force, I drove from SF to Sacto and back on Saturday, and I couldn't keep track of how many CHP I saw. I do that drive fairly often, and its never been that way. So, don't drink and drive (a given) but also stay around the speed limit and so on. They are looking for a reason to pull anyone over, so who knows, 5 mph over might be too much during this holiday season...

And don't forget, if you are keyed and need a way home. You can always call for a free ride via mothers against drunk drivers amongst several other programs. A lot ppl forget about this. People volunteer their time to ensure you get home safely and without hurting others.

Look it up!

Bump!

Just another reminder to be smart & safe. I keep hearing about friends' & relatives' holiday parties. I'm sure any "trouble" is the last thing we need this time of year for ourselves, not to mention hearing of any unfortunate incidents from those in our immediate circle.

And thanx to Rescuer for keep us updated on the latest campaign efforts.

As of now, the new legal limit is under 0.01 bac. Most people have that without even drinking. This should be interesting.
