depends what section you are driving on

for the sectino that is one lane, highly unlikly that a cop would be out there. on the two lane areas heading out there. its a possibility. i know davon has run into some cops out there, but that was during the daytime

Yea look out for the deer and those corners...they come up on you outta nowhere if you hauling it up the road at night. I had to drive past some people at night but slowed down safely when I saw their headlights and one time partway up there were people on the side of the road w/ a telescope stargazing to just look out and be aware.

would drive it at night anymore cuz stupid kids smoke out on the road... they pullover onto what little shoulder that there & raise their consciousness... with no lights on of course... to heighten the experience, nothing more...

that & if you eat **** on Calaveras, phones get no reception behind the mountain so you'd be much assed out.

Calaveras road sucks! Its one lane and it's not that fun. A better road would be the road off niles canyon that takes you to the winery. I can't remember the name of it, but its two lanes and I have never seen a cop there. Driven it about 10 times or more.

thats palomeras road, only problem with it is that there are so many houses along it. another thing about palomeras is that its a much faster road.

and i prefer calaveras road

maybe its just me but i like the narrower tighter roads. calaveras is a ton of fun.

I used to drive Calaveras all the time at night. Best is after 10 pm on a Weekday. The only cops I ever saw were in a helo, but they hung around for a long time and I was almost positive there was a cop waiting for me at the bottom of Sierra Rd when I tried to leave. Lucky for me there wasn't. Oh and the kids won't be there once school starts again As with any mountain road make sure you take it easy the first couple times you go through there. Its like stg2 said, the corners can come out of nowhere and some of them are pretty nasty.

Hazards I have seen at night up there include deer, other cars (pretty rare), star gazers, and rocking cars with fogged up windows

Oh and no I have never seen any rice children up there. I think they are skeered

We go around 10:30-11 ish at night. There are no kids or cars at that time on the road. We are always safe and careful when we drive.
