I always use AAA and used to use MVD Registrations in Sunnyvale when I lived there. For some things though, you MUST deal with the DMV. Like when I registered my last Justy and was told a few months later that I needed to track down the BOS from the guy who sold the car to the lady who sold the car to me. So I went in and asked if they really expected me to track down a fellow in Capitola who may have lived at X address back in May of 2008 to complete my registration and they said "yes." I sent in an explanation and some other stuff and got my reg/title a few months later. Good times!

But my favorite thing about CA DMV is that if you move away, register your car somewhere else for a couple years and move back, you will have to pay 2 years back registration unless you thought to mail CA DMV a letter when you moved stating your intention to register your car in another state and NOT in CA any more.

when we went to pay for bryans sti i was also one day late and got charge 50 extra bucks. Before reg went up in prices we were paying 280 for registration and now we are paying 550 and same for the tribeca. Dmv also told us that only way you can pay in a dmv office now is if it is late. If its not late all reg has to be sent to sacramento from now on.

When I got my DL renewed the signature pad was messed up so my signature on my DL now looks like a 3 year old did it.

Don't be late, the DMV has done CRAZY increases to late fees. I swapped my personalized plates over from my old L wagon over to my STI, and I had to pay a bunch of money, and the lady at the DMV told me I was good until next year on registation. Turns out she lied, my tags never came.

I went in after I was a month expired to find out I'd been hit with a 60% fee AND I had an unpaid parking ticket, my registration was over 700!!!!!

This is how stupid DMV is, I went there shortly after buying my new 09 Si Sedan wanting to get new plates for it. I really feel the need to get 9-11 Memorial Plates for my new car. I checked 9-11 CA Mem, the check mark went and crossed off the Words for Fire Fighter Association, 5 months later I get a we need Proof of FFA Status. Like Serious? I marked the Box for 9-11 CA Mem no FFA, what *** hats! So do I get a discount next year considering it is going on 6 months and no plates yet? Lady behind the counter told me I did not have to use my current plates since they were Suspended, okay maybe I did not hear her right
