Can't say I'm sad to see them go......convinced the AMA to let them run twice the displacement of the other bikes in the class in order to be competitive.....yep, they can go. It does suck for the employees though.

You sure about that? Have you ridden a 1125R? The only thing that kept Buell back was having to use the potato-potato motors. Once they went with a Rotax engine, they were actually pretty good.
Sad to see them go, a lot of innovation came from Buell.

As for the AMA Daytona Sportbike, this was an interesting class. It was based on power to weight ratio, not displacement (there were some "cheater" bikes though).
There were other classes for the 600's, etc; although DMG can eat a big fat piece of poop for making American motorcycle racing the laughing stock of the world.

Too bad it took until 2008 before they could use the rotax engine. Stupid HD.
I'm not a huge fan of Buell in general, but Erik did have a passion, and plenty of innovation. It sucks to see people like that losing out. Hoepfully they can get picked up by another backer and operate without the restrictings of HD.

AND they have to sell MV, which I can only help they find a buyer.
very sad for us moto heads. working in a shop it certainly has sent a shock wave across the industry. first HD cuts production for 14 weeks, then lays off half its work force, then it decides to "trim the fat" and cut Buell and MV. sign o the times fellas......
