Bridgestone RE01R - how many miles will they last? (should i get the RS2s?)
I know, wrong forum but I was hoping for some quick feedback while the Tire Rack closeout is still available. I have the RE01Rs on my car (got them for $400 during a Tire Rack closeout 
) and they only have about 2,000 miles on them.... How many miles do you think I will get out of them?
I want to jump on the Hankook closeout but I dont know how long mine will last... I put about 10K miles a year on the car and if the RE01Rs last 20K miles I dont want the Hankooks in the garage for 2+ years. During that time span another closeout will probably come around. But on the other hand if the RE01Rs wear away real fast then I wouldnt mind keeping the RS2 in storage for up to a year.
Any advice? Thoughts? No autox or track driving but I do like to drive hard 60% of the time.

How long they will last can completely depend on how you drive. If you are a track junkie then I'm sure you will burn through them a lot quicker than you would just using them as a Highway commuter.
Example - I know people used to burn off the S03's in less than 10K miles when they would do competitive track events, but since I would daily drive on the highway I got closer to 25k-30K miles out of the tires before I finally took them off. (I know it's a different tire, just using it as an example).

if you've ever had the S-03's then your treadwear is about the same, given similar driving conditions.
Don't pay attention to the treadwear ratings of different brands, because each company uses their own measure to rate the wear on their tires. Only compare them to the same company and their tires.

S-03's replacement was the Re-01r and the re-01r's replacement is the Re-11s.
There are a lot of people who ran S-03's before, they should give u a good indication of how long they last.
If not that, you can ask Kevin at AutoHQ or ask Bryan to ask him how long his set of Re-01Rs last.
But if I had to guess, anywhere from 25k-40k miles.

i've run both RS-2 and Dunlop star specs. dunlop > hankooks ALL DAY. not even close.
i'm not saying the RS-2's aren't nice. they are nice. but they aren't everything theyre cracked up to be. too much hype IMHO. again, theyre nice, but i'd swing for some nice all-seasons before the RS-2's again. and i love summer tires too.

Yeah but I'm not looking at the Dunlops, the Hankooks are significantly cheaper, $349 shipped to my door. Its not often you can get great performance tires for under $100 per tire in 225/45/17.

It's a common misconception that the RE01R was the replacement tire for the S03, but it was not. The replacement tire for the S03 was the RE050A Pole Position. The RE01R is a different class of tire that is now discontinued and replaced by the current RE11.
