after having put a couple thousand miles on these Axxis Ultimate pads I can tell you for certain that these have substantial more braking power than the HAWK HPS pads. no need to warm up, they just work.

I was driving over hwy 80 on monday with the snow coming down and my ****ty Sumitomo HTR+ tires and never had any problems when I needed to brake.

Driving in the rain. no problem. given my old pads were heavily worn to 20-30%, they always needed a bit of heat to work really well.

i'm sure the Axxis pads will dust a bit more, but looks is nothing without safety.

i'm ordering another pair for the rear since those were pretty far gone as well.

Thank you Dan & Maya for coming over and helping me!

I got 50k out of my HPS, I used them up front with OEM rotors and OEM pads out back.

Though I loved them. They would out brake my tires everytime. I bought them when nothing much was out there for my 4 pots. So this time I am looking for something better. Also upgraded my tires already.

once you slow down enough any pad will out-brake the tire. having brembos also helps a bit.

I purchased my rotors and pads from propartsusa.com over the phone. I bought none-coated centric blank rotors and they work awesome for the money. the brake pads cost more than the rotors for me!

I'm not a fan of brembos. I sold a set I had. They are heavy and fade, I went to the 4 pots as they with a good set up can out perform the brembos.

Brembo is more of a selling point. Most never even use them to 80% of what they are able to do. Plus they are heavy adding to unsprung weight.

Brake rotors are also a key point when replacing your pads. Does anyone here 3m wheel their rotors to remove all the old beading material off?
I was out in the rain lastnight. Talking to my friend. Out in his car in heavy rain he was crying about slower brake reaction time. (cross drilled rotors) I said lets go take a spin in my car. OEM rotors with my hawk pads. He said mine was a whole lot better getting the pad to bite in. I explaned that in the motorcycle world of racing. We found out that under rain, You can bead water up in the holes of the brake rotor and can cause the pads to hydro-plane. We then went back out in his car and he said Wow your right. With his set up he could feel on tip in the brake feeling like its fading. But after a second or two they'd start to work.

This time around I'm looking to replace my rotors, Mine are still great shape. I torque my wheels down and my pads didnt eat them up. But I'd like to get a two piece sloted rotor. Drop some more weight down.

Funny also with drilled rotors you loose braking area. One more trick to the heavy rear brake footed motorcycle racer. We take the rear rotor and use a 1 inch drill to drop some weight but also take the bite out of the rear brakes. Rear brakes are used on a bike to settle the bike mid corner. Some guys hit them on accident moving around on the bike and highside themselfs.

My 999R has ceramic brake rotors (carbon wheels) and brembo calipers. This set up is crazy fast and I had to change my racing lines at the track.

Oh my hawks did put off alot of brake dust. That sucked.. But I like the rally look anyways.. I left it there with all the mud.

old thread, but thought I would say that these pads are significantly better than the Hawk HPS pads. they don't fade with use like the HPS do, and continue to work as well as they did on day 1 after proper bed-in.

+1 for Gagan's recommendation.

I like mine, but when I went to Thunderhill I started to see brake fade when the afternoon hit. I'm going to try a different pad when these are done, maybe the Hawk HPS or something.

Stock STI stuff. I should probably switch to SB lines at some point.
